April:
The mission for this month is Project Linus
which supplies homemade blankets to children who are suffering
a serious illness or trauma. In 2006, we created 95 blankets
and distributed them locally.
July/August:
During the summer months, we work on School
Kits.
November:
In this month our mission project is Blanket Sundays.
Also, we collect items for the Utica Neighborhood
Center and the children it serves.
December:
During the month of December, we concentrate ona couple
of things. First, we collect personal items, and gifts for
the children and youth at The Utica Neighborhood
Center. For the Center, we collect new toys ready
for wrapping.
Year-round:
We collect and support the Sherrill Community Food Pantry.
We collect food and accept monetary donations which all
go directly to supporting the food pantry. Once every four
months, volunteers from Christ Church provide the workers
for the food distribution which takes place weekly on Tuesday
evenings.
Throughout the year, we also collect personal items and
stuffed animals for Liberty Resources ministering to victims
of domestic violence.
We also collect items for the Red Bird Mission in Kentucky.
Red Bird is an United Methodist Community Program in Kentucky,
and it is part of the Red Bird Missionary Conference.
We also work on the Christmas Families Project.
The family project is our congregation helping to supply
a family in the greater Sherrill area with a complete Christmas…from
gifts for all in the family, to giving the makings of a
complete Christmas dinner.
Of course,
throughout the year, whenever a special project comes up,
we stand ready to respond to any need. This past fall, we
helped to bring children back from Jordan to be reunited
with their mother.
